Susan Akin, Miss America,1986"Here she is...
Susan Akin...
Miss America,1986"

The story of one of our country's Royalty will have your audience laughing and crying, cheering and applauding, thinking and changing as Ms. Akin shares both the wonderful and the turbulent time on the road to becoming Miss America, a wife, a mother and a professional speaker.

Susan Akin competed in over 100 pageants in her young life, winning 13 of them. Her last pageant was the ultimate dream for girls throughout America. She was crowned Miss America on September 13, 1985 culminating 21 years of nurturing, culturing, learning, practicing, entertaining, competing, failing and winning.

Following the end of a spectacular year; traveling up to 20,000 miles a month with Bob Hope and other celebrities and representing America throughout this country as well as around the world; she crowned her successor in September of 1986 full-well expecting a future that was as strongly orchestrated, managed Susan Akin, Miss America,1986and successful as had been her first 22 years. Unbeknownst to Susan, this if where her real life began-the life that she would own and direct.

Over the next 17 years, Ms. Akin's experiences have led her down a path of joy and grief, hope and despair, challenge and fear, excitement and disappointment. Ms. Akin has a wealth of experiences along the way as she learned that she is responsible for her successes and failures, that she controls her future. Many of these have been hard-fought; some are still yet to be won. Nonetheless, this Miss America wishes to share her experiences-both good and not so good-with anyone who doubts their own ability to orchestrate their life positively; for anyone who is overwhelmed with challenges; for anyone who needs a boost to believe in themselves; for anyone who truly wants a message of hope.
